Earth Law Summer Course 2024

June 3 to July 10, 2024

Mondays & Wednesday (two classes per week)

10:30am to 12:30pm Eastern Daylight Time

We are thrilled to announce Earth Law Center’s 2024 Summer Course is open for registration. Students will learn from global experts in the emerging field of Earth law, including the Rights of Nature and other transformative, Earth-centered legal paradigms. This award-winning program has educated hundreds of students, some of which are now leading practitioners in the field.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the emergence of Earth Law in response to the limitations of modern environmental law and the need for new approaches to tackle current environmental challenges.
  • Learn about a new ecological social contract which includes all of the Earth community.
  • Evaluate legal strategies in cases from around the world that have applied Earth Law principles in addressing environmental and sustainability issues.
  • Explore ecocentric governance and integrative lawyering as ways of addressing complex environmental problems through interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Consider career opportunities in Earth law.
  • Participate in shaping the future of Earth law education and inclusion of Earth Law principles in legal education and professional practice.

  • This course is for anyone interested in the theory or practice of humans living in harmony with the rest of the Earth community. Lawyers, other professionals, students at all levels, and all Earthlings are welcome to apply.

Do you have scholarships?

Can I receive CLE Credits?

  • Some states will provide CLE credit; reach out for more information.

Can I receive credit from my college, university, or law school?

  • Yes, if your school offers credit for independent study. ELC can help provide details for an application.
