Please check out this information provided by the good people at United Way East Ontario

We are grateful that more than 140 participants were in attendance at the East Ontario Recovery and Inclusive Growth Summit this past November, representing public and private sectors, not-for-profits, school boards, post-secondary institutions, small businesses, and more. We learned so much from the speakers who shared their experiences and perspectives within the community wealth-building ecosystem.

The information that was shared during the breakout sessions will help to guide our next steps as we move ahead as a region. Here is the blog that summarizes the event. We have also attached the event booklet as a reference tool.

As announced at the Summit, United Way will be convening a community wealth building Champions Table on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 9:00-10:30 am. This will be a space for dialogue, an opportunity to share best practices, challenges, and solutions to implementing community wealth-building principles, and networking. You do not need to be an expert to join this table – it’s all about coming together to learn from and with each other. Our goal is to meet for 1.5 hours on a quarterly basis to start.

If you are interested in participating in this table, please contact Kelly Mertl, Senior Director, Community Initiatives at kmertl@unitedwayeo.ca, or Preeti Prabhu, Senior Director, Public Policy and Stakeholder Engagement pprabhu@unitedwayeo.ca .

Additionally, we will continue the spirit of the Summit by hosting a series of community wealth-building webinars, powered by RBC, to help organizations turn knowledge into action. Our first webinar entitled: The Equitable Workforce will focus on how to build community wealth, starting by creating an equitable, inclusive, and diverse workforce.

You can register for the first webinar here.

·Tuesday, January 25, 2022:   The Equitable Workforce          8:30 am-10:00 am

And please hold these dates in your calendar for the following topics:

·Tuesday, May 17, 2022:      Community Benefit Agreements   9:30 am-11:00 am

We encourage you to check out other great resources listed in the Buy Social Canada December newsletter along with the resources found on their website that will help you along your learning journey.

And finally, we are pleased to share news from the Centre for Social Enterprise Development (CSED) that the upcoming conference “CSED Unleashed 2022” will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. You can register here.

Thank you for making a difference in our communities across East Ontario. Together, we can build stronger, more equitable communities for everyone.
